An amateur football match in Perth's northern suburbs has descended into violence, with an ugly brawl forcing the game to be abandoned in the fourth quarter. Footage captured by the partner of Warwick-Greenwood coach, Jay Carroll, showed one of their players being king hit from behind, and a runner who went to defend him being mobbed by a group of five opposition players who kicked him to the round. A player was king hit during the brawl.
Updated September 28, A spectator has been charged after allegedly punching an umpire during the grand final of an amateur football match in Western Australia. It is alleged the man punched umpire Brenton Bartlett, 24, in the face as he was walking off the ground following a five-point win by the Eaton Boomers over Carey Park in the reserves grand final.
